DefendaStrip

DefendaStrip® is a purpose-built anti-climb system designed to help gas network operators protect exposed infrastructure such as pipe bridges, river or rail crossings, governor installations and above-ground assets. By adding this product to our gas-sector accessory range, FT Gas Solutions offers a practical way to reduce the risk of unauthorised entry, safeguarding both operations and personnel.

The system consists of flexible Polypropylene strips formed with offset defensive cones that discourage climbing without the sharp edges and injury risks associated with metal deterrents. This makes it well suited to environments where safety, liability reduction and regulatory compliance are priorities.

Each strip can be trimmed and shaped to follow the contours of curved pipework, brackets, and awkward structural features commonly found across gas infrastructure. The recommended fixing method uses metal banding, which slots through dedicated points along the strip to create a secure and continuous protective barrier. Installation is quick, and the stackable format keeps storage and transport straightforward for field crews.

DefendaStrip® is supplied in 5m, 20m or 50m lengths, with made-to-measure quantities available for larger schemes. A range of standard colours – including black, brown, green, grey and translucent – is offered, while bespoke colours can be produced subject to minimum orders. The material is UV-stable and can be recycled at the end of its service life, and all manufacturing takes place in England.

The product has achieved Secured by Design approval, confirming that it meets rigorous police-preferred standards for protective security equipment used around critical assets.
