Kleerband® Flange Protectors

Flange protection is a regular subject of conversations with clients and prospects.  Flanges not only demand effective sealing to properly prevent leakage but they must also be cathodically isolated to prevent stray currents which cause corrosion and eventual breakdown of the metal.

FT Gas Control Systems offers the effective solution that absolutely addresses the challenge of corrosion – Kleerband® flange protectors. These elongate the life of the asset by protecting the flange face, studs and gaskets on raised face, full face and ring joint flanges from atmospheric corrosion encountered in gas plants, metering stations and underground pipelines. Kleerband® flange protectors are thus specified for use on offshore platforms, onshore oil fields, refineries, pump stations, metering stations, chemical, processing, gas and wastewater plants and underground pipelines. Manufactured from 100% virgin vinyl compound, Kleerband® flange protectors allow engineers to perform a visual inspection of the surface of the flange surface and thereby indication of potential joint leakage without the need to remove the flange protector.

The Kleerband® products have an operating temperature of -13°F to +167°F and a low temperature brittleness of -40°F and are available to fit all ANSI flanges 150# series to 2500# series up to 144” diameter.

Kleergel® Heavy Duty Synthetic Grease

To complement the flange protectors, we offer Kleergel® corrosion inhibitor grease. It is a high-performance non-staining, non-flammable, non-toxic multi-purpose synthetic lubricate.  Approved for use in food processing equipment applications and with potable water, it retains and offers good viscosity from -50°F to +500°F and outperforms all petroleum-based greases and many synthetic greases.

Compared to petroleum-based greases, which contain many impurities, Kleergel®’s product is free of contamination and is one reason why it performs better at higher and lower temperatures and under more demanding conditions.  Synthetic lubricants, by their nature, are not as easily prone to oxidation, emulsification and other destructive chemical reactions, which are inherent to petroleum-based greases.

Petroleum-based greases contain impurities that reduce film strength and decrease wear protection. These greases form by adding thickeners (calcium, sodium, lithium) to petroleum-based oils, which form harmful deposits at high temperatures and solidify at low temperatures. 

Kleergel® corrosion inhibitor grease is 100% waterproof, offers optical clarity and its performance is further improved by the addition of special anti-wearing, anti-rusting and anti-oxidative additives.

Kleerband® (clear flange protectors) and Kleergel® (inhibitor grease) protect your asset against corrosion and ingress of water as specified by National Grid.

Radolid®

Radolid® protection caps are manufactured from high density black UV-resistant polyethylene (white may be specified) and are deployed to prevent corrosion of nuts and bolts.  The caps – which are reusable – feature barb edges which click into place when hand-pressed on to a nut or bolt, ensuring they remain in position. Some users apply Kleergel® Corrosion Inhibitor Grease to the caps as a “belt-and-braces” approach to corrosion prevention.
