Specialists in gas-to-power as well as transmission, FT Gas Control Systems has the expertise to manufacture gas pressure reduction stations to either a standard or bespoke design according to customer and application specification. Manufacture takes place in association with Gascat/Zennergy.
FT Gas Control is the exclusive UK distributor for the exciting gas regulators from Gascat Ltd of Brazil. This strategic relationship enables FT Gas to offer a wide range of respected gas pressure regulators which are suitable for small, industrial, low-pressure systems through to large high flow, high volume distribution, natural gas, hydrogen, biogas or CNG / LNG systems. All the regulators are pre-trimmed for a hydrogen / natural gas blend. Separate or integrated slam shut valves are also available.
FT Gas designs, builds, delivers, installs and commissions fully-compliant pressure reduction stations for the UK and other gas markets to the highest possible standards. It creates long-life assets to ensure customer systems produce results consistently and the quality of the build is reflected in its longevity. FT Gas’ wide choice of valves and 3D computer modelling also allows it to reduce gas skid footprints.
Hydrogen and biogas, of course, are among the leading solutions to the challenges of energy security and energy transition. FT Gas Control is committed to future-proofing your gas control assets for the hydrogen mix. Its pure hydrogen systems and hydrogen pre-trimmed systems ensure the future of methane / hydrogen mix without the need to replace existing non-hydrogen-ready control devices.
FT Gas continues to play a significant role in supporting the net zero ambitions of the UK and government with regard to the deployment of pressure reduction stations and skids with hydrogen as the fuel source. This is evidenced by its involvement in the production of the world’s first hydrogen-fired clay bricks; the world’s first hydrogen-powered crematorium; the world’s first cement kiln operating using hydrogen and numerous other fuel-switching innovations.
Success of this sort carries a high level of responsibility, not least the demonstration of engineering expertise that has safety at its core. The very nature of a gas such as hydrogen demands an understanding and appreciation of potential risks so that they can be professionally addressed, engineered-out and the outcomes demonstrated, thus enhancing interest, demand and deployment to the benefit of customers, end-users and the environment.
The video above is a tour of a large, single stream natural gas pressure reducing station and pre-heat system that was built at FT Gas’ dedicated manufacturing facility in the Midlands. The system is pre-trimmed to accept a 30% hydrogen blend and has a minimum design life of 25 years. The heatpack was designed by FT Gas engineers to use waste steam on site to pre-heat the gas prior to depressurisation, thereby providing a more sustainable, greener alternative to NG or electrical pre-heat. This particular PRS was over 12m long and weighed more than 13 tonnes.
Gas to power and gas to industry skids can be designed, built, installed and commissioned. Combining many years of industry experience with a strong supply chain of companies who are market leaders in their fields, FT Gas can source and deliver all the products for your project.
FT Gas Control currently manufactures a full range of skids, heat packs and water baths in Holland, Brazil and the UK. Contact the team and advise of your inlet and what is required on the outlet and FT Gas will 3D design your system.
Hathor Complete Gas Train (Biogas trimmed by request)
FT Gas added hydrogen-regulation modules to its fleet of natural gas rental skids that has been deployed to gas-to-power and gas-to-energy applications. Recent leases have seen skid-mounted hydrogen gas pressure let-down stations – which go from high pressure to millibar and are bespoke to meet customer specification – delivered to site assembled and ready to run. The FT Gas team has also supplied and installed hydrogen rental skids to operate in UK government green energy trials. Two of these skids are fully stainless steel and CE marked.
Our compact, whole pressure reduction system is a fraction of the footprint of a traditional PRS and features:
This compact, stainless steel, whole pressure reduction system is around a tenth of the footprint of a traditional PRS. Feedback regarding the Hydrogenesis (in common with the Monobloc) underscores FT Gas’ expectation that it really is a game-changer.
